This table provides examples of what coaching is and is not.  It was developed from the content of the Coaches Institutes and reflects the underlying principles of the MPF and MCI.
This summary is based on an extensive review of the research literature on the capacities that are instrumental to effective school leadership.  It summarizes the leadership responsibilities and asks principals to think about ways coaches can provide support.  Coaches should consider these principal leadership responsibilities in thinking about ways to support principals.
The principal-coach covenant is a tool that helps establish the working relationship between the principal and coach (and other school leaders).  The relationship and work will vary by school depending on the goals, defined jointly, for the school, the work, norms and commitments and other agreements.
